I was first licensed in 1956 as KN2UTV, then K2UTV. In 1963, I moved to Connecticut to work at ARRL Hq and became W1BGD. As soon as I could qualify for a two-letter call, I became W1RM. I am a founding member and first president of CWops, a member and Vice President of FOC, and a member of the Yankee Clipper Contest Club, the Marconi Club, and the CWJF Group. In 2023, I became a member of the FOC Committee, and in September 2023, I was named Chairman.
A word about paper QSLs. If you want a paper QSL, I am happy to send one via the bureau. But if you want one directly, please provide postage, either with green stamps or an SASE.
I enjoy contesting and DXing and am 99% CW.
2021 was my Blue Saphire year in ham radio. A lot has changed in 65 years, and I can’t wait to see what will happen in the next 65!
W1RM was one of the operators on the Radio In A Box (RIB) DXpedition to Ducie Island, VP6A, in June, 2023 and North Cook (E51D) in August/September 2023. I am a member of the remote op team for N5J, Jarvis 2024 DXpedition.
On November 7, 2024, I worked TG9AJR on 6 for DXCC 100, which gives me ten-band DXCC!
